Casa de Fieras Restaurant: The best tuna tartare in the heart of Retiro

In an endless number of gastronomic proposals in the epicenter of the great Madrid, the Casa de Fieras restaurant emerges as an almost obligatory destination for diners looking to savor a good bluefin tuna tartar in a atmosphere that feels like home. The data: The restaurant is strategically located in the retreat areaone of the busiest culinary hubs in the Spanish capital.

Casa de Fieras opened its doors in the summer of 2017 – specifically in the month of June – when Rafael Lopez del Hierro He had the idea of transforming an old leather tanning workshop into a cozy restaurant, which invites calm in one of the most pleasant moments of life: good eating.

“The premises were an old fur and leather workshop from the beginning of the 20th century, we wanted to respect the original interior as much as possible, creating an environment that invites serenity without imposing anything that the premises themselves did not want to say. We made all the infrastructures and installations necessary to be able to offer a restaurant service”, affirms the owner.

“We created a place that distills authenticity and that, together with honesty, marry perfectly with our restaurant. These are the two words that define our menu and our philosophy”, confesses Rafael.

Regarding the secret of his cuisine, Rafael says that it is based on authentic products and raw materials, with little elaboration, which results in a wonderful and exquisite dish. According to the reviews of his most demanding diners, all the dishes that contain tuna stand out greatly, which is why Rafael agrees that it is the star ingredient of the site.

“In our restaurant there is a premise: We are managers of our clients’ leisure and we have no right to spoil it, therefore we have to make it easy for them, no complications. Simplicity, common sense and a great desire to serve. With honest prices and an invitation to customers so that they feel at home”, says López del Hierro.

The origin of the name is due to the extinct Retiro Zoo, as a kind of tribute. “We meet in the most gastronomic neighborhood of Madrid, with wonderful competition, a neighborhood that continues to maintain its soul as such; a neighborhood where the people of Madrid go to eat well. We needed a powerful, recognizable name that would quickly identify us with the Retiro and the neighborhood. This is how Casa de Fieras was born, a worship of the old Madrid Zoo, which was in the Retiro, right in front of us. An easy name to remember and very allegorical to our neighbourhood”, explains Rafael.

projections

Rafael López affirms that his purpose is to continue working in the search for excellence, mainly with regard to customer service.

“Our projections are simple and customer-facing. Always looking sideways at new opportunities that may arise, without ever losing our values,” he says.

“Growth must always be solid, consolidated, thoughtful. Growth must be a means, not an end. If we find spaces that fit our philosophy, we will be delighted to expand our business, but always without losing focus on serving our clients”, says Rafael.

As stated by the owner and founder of the restaurant, this site has been conceived as the ideal destination for gatherings of friends and familyin which a menu at a good price and a wine list to taste are the protagonists.
