One of the highlights of the iPhone 14 rumor mill is that it will continue to sport the same A15 Bionic chip as the iPhone 13s, with the iPhone 14 Pro being the only ones to gain a new chip tentatively named ‘A16’. That has made us think of an iPhone 14 with the same performance as its predecessors, although It seems that Apple has some aces up its sleeve..
There are ways to improve a chip without adding transistors.
Despite using *some* old hardware, iPhone 14 non pro still have some overall performance boost over the iPhone 13 series
New cellular modem, new internals design, etc.— ShrimpApplePro 🍤 (@VNchocoTaco) August 1, 2022
Leaker ShrimpApplePro has commented on a tweet that the iPhone 14 will have a higher performance than the iPhone 13 despite having the same chip. The trick would be a new design of the internal components of the phonein addition to a new 5G modem that would help optimize the power of the chip and make it more efficient.
With that, a little more performance would be gained and ShrimpApplePro says that it will be noticeable “at a general level”, there shouldn’t be a big difference though. Something that can provide more power is the use of the A15 Bionic chip present in the iPhone 13 Pro, which has one more graphics core than the iPhone 13. And who knows, maybe an “A15X” is pulled out of the sleeve if Apple has had time to apply improvements to the original design.
Lastly, iOS 16 should have some role in that optimization thanks to its improved source code. But all that is already more of his own speculations than what a leaker has said. We’ll see it all in September, when the iPhone 14 are presented at an event. We continue betting on the 12th or 13th for its celebration.
