The Panamanian team, represented by the Little Leagues of Agudulce, Coclé, will seek its second victory today in the Intermediate Baseball World Series (13-16 years) that is played in Easley, South Carolina, United States.

The Panamanian team will play against Puerto Rico (Caribbean) at 6:30 in the afternoon (Panama time) in a match corresponding to the International group of the competition.

Boris Polanco, technical director of the Panamanian team, announced that the designated pitcher to open the match will be Héctor Noriega.

Panama started the tournament on the right foot last Sunday with a 12-10 victory over Canada.

In this game, Panama had eight hits and made three errors, while Canada had 14 hits and the defense had four failures.

The winning pitcher was Dylan He, who pitched 4.1 innings, in which he allowed 4 runs, six hits, struck out three and walked one.

The best offensive players for the Coclesan team were Luis Escudero 2-2 (two runs scored, three RBIs and two bases on balls), and Víctor Figueroa 3-2 (two runs scored).

The tournament is divided into two groups: the United States and the International. The competition format is double elimination, in which the team that loses two games is out of the option of going for the first places.

The winners of the two groups will play for the World Series title in this category this Saturday, August 6.

Panama represents Latin America after winning last June the regional tournament held in Santiago, Veraguas province.
