Fishing boat explosion in Progreso, Yucatan, leaves one person dead

Progress, Yucatan.- An explosion and fire of a fishing boat provoked an important mobilization of aid bodies in the shelter port of Yucalpetén, in Progreso, Yucatan, where the authorities confirmed the death of a person who made repairs to the ship when the events occurred.

According to reports at noon this Monday, a rumble was heard in the “Cuevas” shipyard area, where he was a boat named “Lady Godiva” that began to put out fire and a lot of smoke. Videos recorded by local fishermen managed to capture part of the events.

Witnesses at the scene indicated that at the time of the explosion There were three workers inside the ship, however, only two of them managed to escape from the incident. Unfortunately, the third could not get out in time and ended up losing his life.

Nearby fishermen immediately used their fire extinguishers but were unable to put out the fire and minutes later A mobilization of ambulances, firefighters, elements of the Marine and police from the Ministry of Public Security of the state of Yucatan.
