Chelsea: 100 million for a 21-year-old?

After the departure of Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen, the Londoners are looking for replacements in defence.

So far, the “Blues” could only sign Kalidou Koulibaly. In addition to the 31-year-old, another player should be found for the back four.

Chelsea were already on the verge of signing several players, but ultimately went away empty-handed. There was already an agreement with Jules Kounde, in the end FC Barcelona secured the rights to the Frenchman.

Never before has a centre-back paid so much

The Londoner’s new target is Wesley Fofana, according to reports from “The Athletic”. The 21-year-old currently plays for Leicester City and has a current contract until 2027. Due to the long term, a purchase for the “Blues” would be an expensive undertaking. The 21-year-old would cost head coach Thomas Tuchel’s club between 95 and 101 million euros.

As “Sky Sports” reports, Chelsea wants to offer the 2016 champion some players for exchange in order to reduce the transfer fee.

A much cheaper alternative would be Denzel Dumfries. The Dutchman is currently under contract with Inter Milan and is also an option for those responsible. The Italians are yet to generate revenue after signing Romelu Lukaku and might be willing to sell the 26-year-old cheaply.

The Londoners have exactly one month to introduce another defender before the transfer window closes.
