AS Roma close to signing PSG star

AS Roma’s shopping spree continues.

After well-known signings like Paulo Dybala and Nemanja Matic, the next top player could move to the Italian capital.

According to consistent media reports from Italy and France, the transfer of Georginio Wijnaldum is nearing completion. For the time being, the Dutchman is to move to Rome on a one-year loan basis. If the 31-year-old plays more than half of all competitive games, a purchase obligation of 6 million euros applies.

Roma wants to attack from above

Wijnaldum only moved from Liverpool to Paris last summer but never lived up to the high expectations placed on him there. In France, the 86-time national player rarely got beyond the joker role.

After five successful years at Liverpool, winning the Champions League and Premier League, the Dutchman wanted to build on similar successes with the star ensemble in Paris. His contract in the French capital runs until 2024.

AS Roma are making major upgrades this summer of transfers. As far as striker Tammy Abraham is concerned, things should go up after last year’s Conference League title: “Our goal is to return to the Champions League. We have to improve to get into the top 4 in Serie A. I but I would be lying if I said I don’t want to win the Scudetto,” says the 24-year-old.

Andrea Belotti is also expected to strengthen Jose Mourinho’s squad. The Italian striker would be available for free, like Dybala. Belotti is currently without a club after his contract with FC Torino was not renewed.
