He is seen as a “problem child” in his racing team and his team boss recently threatened to throw him out of the team formula 1.

Formula 1: Tsunoda threatens to be kicked out at AlphaTauri

While AlphaTauri was the surprise team in Formula 1 last season, things are going miserably this year. Neither Yuki Tsunoda nor Pierre Gasly have scored points for Red Bull’s sister team in the last four races. The team is only eighth in the Constructors’ Championship.

  • Mercedes: Lewis Hamilton, George Russell
  • Red Bull: Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez
  • Ferrari: Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz
  • McLaren: Lando Norris, Daniel Ricciardo
  • AlphaTauri: Pierre Gasly, Yuki Tsunoda
  • Alpine: Fernando Alonso, Esteban Ocon
  • Aston Martin: Sebastian Vettel, Lance Stroll

Tsunoda in particular is under pressure and was recently noticed negatively. Again and again he is involved in accidents, he often freaks out on the radio. Impressions that detract from his often good performance. Tsunoda is seen by some internally at Red Bull as a “problem child” – that’s how consultant Helmut Marko recently described it.

“On the race track, as soon as I wear the helmet, I might get frustrated a little faster,” admits Tsunoda, but at the same time finds: “Lately I’ve got it under control, at least compared to last year.”

Now, however, services must also follow. He made a start at the last race in France. Tsunoda made it to eighth place in qualifying, but was cleared of the race on the opening lap by Alpine driver Esteban Ocon and then had to park his car.
