Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig experienced one of the best days of her cycling career today. Maarten Vangramberen went to visit her and determined that all the emotions had not gone away yet. The Danish was still her enthusiastic self: “What a day.”
“It’s unbelievable. It’s a day I’ll remember for a long time.” Uttrup Ludwig was still overjoyed hours after the ride.
“I was constantly a bit on the stretch in the last 20 kilometers”, she analyzed the final. “At the end I was in the wheel of Marianne Vos. I thought, ‘This is good. This is the right wheel.'”
It is a solid boost for the team after the loss of Marta Cavalli yesterday. “I’m going to see her here at the hotel. We’re going to celebrate with her, very nice. This win is for her and the team. Yesterday was a terrible day. But we kept fighting and believed in it.”

“Dream to inspire girls”
“The dream is to inspire girls to make their cycling dream come true,” continues Uttrup Ludwig. “We get the biggest podium in the world thanks to the Tour de France. Now they see not only the men, but also the women. Those young girls are at home watching.”
Just like with the men, Denmark is now also partying in the Tour de France Femmes. “It’s the year of Danish cycling. I think the men inspired us. They inspired me. Jonas (Vingegaard), Mads (Pedersen), Magnus (Cort Nielsen) and all the Danish men are doing so well. I wish show that the girls also cycle well.”
