Who next year one Holiday in Majorca plans may have to dig much deeper into their pockets than before.
The Balearic Island is one of the most popular travel destinations for Germans. Even during the summer holidays, there are many back in the Vacation after Majorca drawn. Vacation on Mallorca: Hotels want to take drastic consequences
Groceries, fuel prices, energy costs – and now also the Malle vacation? When it comes to hotel operators, the answer to this question is a resounding “yes”! Because as “Bild” reports, the hoteliers are planning hefty price increases.
The hotels on the entire Balearic island are to become around eight to ten percent more expensive. In order to enforce this, numerous accommodation operators are said to be in negotiations with the tour operators.
This is the holiday island of Mallorca:
- Island in the western Mediterranean Sea, belongs to Spain
- largest island of the Balearic group and Spain
- Capital is Palma
- Official languages are Catalan and Spanish
- Sights include the La Seu Cathedral in Palma, the Hidropark and the Palma Aquarium
It should be little consolation for vacationers that the additional costs for hotel operators are currently many times higher. As a manager told “Bild”, the expenses for them are said to have increased by 25 to 40 percent. At 10.2 percent, inflation in Spain is currently significantly more severe than in Germany. In Germany it is just 7.6 percent.

For many package holidaymakers, a vacation on Mallorca next year could blow the travel budget. Will bachelor parties, bowling tours and party vacations soon have to be relocated to another island?

Probably not. Because, as the hotel manager reported to “Bild”, she does not believe that the operators will get their demands through. “That will be difficult in view of the possible economic crisis in Europe. Our costs have gone up a lot, but we probably can’t go up that much with the prices. Otherwise we will end up having to make special offers.” And that would cut the hoteliers in the foot. (lime)
