Steyr suffers a major setback early in the game, losing Silvio Apollonio after just a few minutes with a serious injury.
The Upper Austrians can quickly shake off the shock. Gerhard Dombaxi leaves his opponent behind and sinks the ball after a counterattack in the far corner – 1:0 (20th).
Rapid finds it difficult to get into the game, but is favored after half an hour by a goalkeeper error. Steyr keeper Florian Eres fails when playing out, serves the Hütteldorfers the ball on a silver platter. Nicholas Wunsch puts it down again to Nicolas Binder, who netted to make it 1-1 (29′).
