Marcelo Gallardo had completed 400 games at the helm of River in the revenge match against Vélez for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. El Muñe took office in 2014 and has already left a mark to the point that many consider him the best coach in the club’s history, with two Libertadores, 2015 and 2018, as the highest point of his management.
Marcelo is the third coach with the most games directed in the club’s history, behind Ángel Amadeo Labruna (528) and José María Minella (447).
