In the Tour de France today is the last time to climb, but what the riders still have to choose is not a good one. With the Aubisque and the climb to Hautacam there are 2 out-of-category cols on the menu, in between the Col de Spandelles also has to be eaten. Can Tadej Pogacar nibble on his backlog of Jonas Vingegaard? Follow it closely here from 13:40.

  1. 12 noon 32. Caleb Ewan is getting better and better. I expect to survive today without any problems. . Frederik Frison (Lotto-Soudal).
  2. 12 noon 31. Everyone is tired and on their gums. It was a great relief that Jakobsen reached the finish line yesterday. I hope Fabio has recovered. Yves Lampaert (Quick Step Alpha Vinyl).
  3. 12 o’clock 18.
  4. Caruso also tests positive. Damiano Caruso also does not appear at the start of the 18th Tour stage. The Bahrain Italian, 2nd in the Giro last year, took a positive corona test and will no longer start towards Hautacam. . 12 o’clock 16.
  5. 12 o’clock 01. Vingegaard in the footsteps of Nibali? Hautacam is the 6th place finish in the Tour de France. The climb was last climbed in 2014, when Vincenzo Nibali reigned supreme in stage 18. The Shark of Messina overtook the other favorites by more than a minute and eventually won the Tour by almost 8 minutes ahead of the French Jean-Christophe Péraud and Thibaut Pinot. .
  6. 11 am 58. 2014: Nibali takes his fourth stage win en route to overall victory.

2014: Nibali takes his fourth stage win on his way to overall victory

  7. 11 am 56. Geschke again? Today will be an important day for Simon Geschke. The mountain classification leader is still 12 points ahead of Jonas Vingegaard and 18 points ahead of Tadej Pogacar.  There are 50 points to be picked up on the way to the top of Hautacam. Who will draw the longest straw: the German from Cofidis or one of the favourites? .
  8. 11 o’clock 54.
  9. 11 am 52. O Dear Belgium. 21/7 is Belgium’s national holiday. The Belgians have so far won 4 stages in this Tour de France with Yves Lampaert, Wout van Aert (2x) and Jasper Philipsen.  Will there be a 5th today? Dylan Teuns spontaneously comes to mind, but then everything will have to go well… .
  10. 11 am 23. No more Erviti. The Tour is still plagued by corona infections. Imanol Erviti is next in line. The 38-year-old Spaniard has tested positive for the virus and will not start today. Erviti was 80th in the standings, at 2h57’18” from jersey wearer Jonas Vingegaard. He was an important servant of leader Enric Mas, the 10th in the standings. The Spaniard is the first Movistar rider to give up in this Tour. Imanol Erviti was working on his 13th Tour. Only once before did he not make it to Paris. He is the 13th rider in this Tour to give up due to a positive corona test. .
  11. 10 am 20.
  12. 10 am 17. The last mountain ride. Two out-of-category cols and one of 1st category: that’s what the riders in the Tour will be presented with today. For Tadej Pogacar it is the last chance to make leader Jonas Vingegaard falter uphill. Whether that succeeds, you can follow here from 13.40. .
