Luuk de Jong’s days in Spain’s top division La Liga are officially numbered for the time being.
The 31-year-old center forward returns to his home country and joins PSV Eindhoven. The 38-time “Elftal” team player was under contract with the reigning cup winners from 2014 to 2019. Neither his previous employer FC Sevilla nor the Dutch have given any specific information on the exact transfer modalities.
In the past season, de Jong was on loan at FC Barcelona. The striker has scored seven goals in 29 appearances for the Catalans.
“We tried to get Luuk last season. I’m glad it worked now. Luuk brings us experience, leadership and goals,” said PSV technical director John de Jong about the transfer.
