The Russian Air Force has carried out a precision weapons attack on a warehouse with weapons supplied by the United States and European Union states in the town of Kremenchug near Poltava. The spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, told reporters on Tuesday. He explained:

“On June 27, Russian precision weapons from the air hit hangars with weapons and ammunition from the United States and European countries in the city of Kremenchug, Poltava region, near the Kremenchug Road Machinery Plant.”

The detonation of stored ammunition intended for western weapons sparked a fire at a mall near the facility.

This refers to the shopping center which, according to the Ukrainian authorities, was said to have been hit by a Russian rocket attack on Monday.

Kiev authorities had claimed that many civilians were wounded and killed in the alleged attack as the mall was packed with people. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy even called the alleged incident “one of the most blatant terrorist attacks in European history”.

Kremenchug is a city in central Ukraine, about 250 kilometers southeast of Kyiv. The Russian military previously attacked a major oil refinery in the city in an attempt to deprive the Ukrainian military of fuel for its vehicles.
