The Yandex.Food delivery service now has an option to delete information about orders.

“This can be done in the Yandex ID personal account using a data management tool. The service has launched such an opportunity so that users can independently manage the data stored by Yandex Food, ”says a message distributed by the service, which is quoted, for example, by Then24.

For now, you can delete information about delivered and completed orders. It will take about three days, Yandex.Food warns. It is assumed that later users will be able to delete other data in Yandex.Food, including delivery addresses. The company also promises that it will be possible to delete information about orders from Yandex.Lavka.

“Deleting data is an irreversible process. If you delete information about orders, you will no longer be able to see recommendations of your favorite restaurants and dishes in Yandex Food, ”the Yandex.Food emphasized.

In early March, a website appeared with leaked information about Yandex.Food customers. The scale of the leak is several million lines – addresses, phone numbers, names, dates and times of orders made through this service. In May, this site, which is blocked in Russia, leaked data from users of other services, including the CDEK courier service, VTB Bank, the Delivery Club delivery service, the Wildberries Internet market, the Avito ad portal and the Beeline mobile operator.

Yandex.Food was fined 60,000 rubles for the leak. This is the minimum fine of part 1 of article 13.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (violation of legislation in the field of personal data that does not contain a criminally punishable act).

In April, the Ministry of Digital Development proposed introducing turnover fines for companies for data leakage. In particular, for officials, the fine can range from 500 thousand to 700 thousand rubles, for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs – 1% of the total revenue for the year, but not less than 3 million rubles. Corresponding changes to the legislation as of the end of June were not made.
