You are currently viewing Medvedev: there are no politicians like Margaret Thatcher or Jacques Chirac left in Europe

In Europe, over the past 20 years, the level of Western politicians who are able to take responsibility, and not refer to the situation, has fallen dramatically, said Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council.

“There is not even a trace of political figures of the level of Helmut Kohl, Jacques Chirac or Margaret Thatcher left in Europe … The political layer of people who personified a powerful political course, and sometimes an entire era, has been replaced by a stunted growth of people who conditionally call themselves technocrats” , he wrote in his Telegram.

According to Medvedev, some of them are nothing more than qualified specialists who can only correctly formulate an idea and give precise instructions to assistants, but they are not able to take responsibility.

“They will hide, play up, refer to instructions, to the situation, even to climate change, but they will not make a decision. Or they will be accepted with a catastrophic delay. And this is a complete disaster,” he added.

Earlier, analysts said that the situation with a record increase in gasoline prices was largely due to the incompetence of many Western politicians who, with the help of sanctions in the energy sector, expected primarily to harm Russia, but such a strategy turned out to be a failure.
