A new FIFA ranking was published and while some teams celebrated their advances and progress, there were others who lamented the results. One of these cases is Mexico, which, less than six months before the World Cup in Qatar, fell in the list and was left out of the top 10 of the best teams in the world.
In the list published by FIFA in March this year, those led by Gerardo Martino were in ninth place with 1658.82 points, but in this publication they were in twelfth place after accumulating 1649.57 points.
It is that the last games for the Qatar Qualifiers did not leave great results for the Tri which triggered a drop three places. As he prepares to face Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Poland in Group C, this news was not pleasant at all, but there are still several months to go in the best way to the most important event in football.
Despite the news of the ranking, in recent games Tata showed his confidence and enthusiasm in the team that adjusted some edges and was able to establish himself. Even in the friendly they played against Nigeria last month in which they won 2-1, he declared: “He left me alone the whole match. We always had courage and ambition, but I liked more how we played the first 30 minutes. We must have more forcefulness with rivals. The idea of the game has always been reflected, it just hadn’t had continuity. Today we associate, we meet in the passes and we press well; we recovered things that were not being done”.
Argentina in the FIFA ranking
The news for the Argentine National Team is more than positive: snatched third place in the table from France. She is on the podium, behind Belgium (2nd) and Brazil (1st) who were unchanged from the last ranking.
By points, the logic was given: Argentina ascends because it has already gone 33 games without losing, while France have not won their last four Nations League games. The bad present of the world champions caused the Scaloneta, more on fire than ever, to get among the three best teams in the world.
Spain moved up one position in the ranking, to rank sixth. And the Netherlands managed to climb two places to seventh place. For their part, Italy and Portugal fell one place with respect to the last ranking and are located in seventh and ninth position respectively.
