Andreas Herzog receives the first Israel Friendship Award in Austria.

Austria’s record-breaking soccer team player received this special award for his work as manager of the Israeli national team. With the award, the Embassy of the State of Israel in Vienna wants to highlight people “who have made an extraordinary contribution to improving relations between Israel and Austria.”

Herzog was Israel team boss from August 2018 to June 2020.

“Through his dedicated work, mutual perception and mutual interest in the other country have significantly broadened and strengthened. Andreas Herzog has thus become a sympathetic bridge builder between Austrians and Israelis,” says a statement.

In addition to Herzog, the AIANI (Austrian-Israel Academic Network Innsbruck) also received an award.
