The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has announced that it will legalize off-court coaching after Wimbledon in trial mode.

Coaches will have to comply with a number of conditions. So, coaching is allowed only if it does not interrupt the game and does not interfere with the opponent. Verbal coaching is allowed when the player is on the same side of the court. Hand signals are allowed throughout the match. Coaches may not leave their seats and talk to a ward when he leaves the court for any reason. Failure to comply with these rules will result in penalties.

The rules will apply to both qualifiers and matches in the main draw of ATP tournaments, including the US Open and the Final Championship.

The 2022 UK Open will take place from 27 June to 10 July.

Earlier, Belarusian tennis player Arina Sobolenko said that she would not watch the British Open 2022.
