A40 near Mülheim: In the middle of the summer holidays – the entire motorway is closed for a long time
Motorists need on the A40 Strong nerves again at Mülheim! And of all things during the summer holidays.
For ten days the A40 in the direction of Essen from Friday, July 1, closed between the Kaiserberg motorway junction and the Mülheim-Heißen junction.
A40 near Mülheim: Blocking comes in the summer holidays
the A40 will be closed from 8 p.m. on Friday evening, the closure will then apply until Monday (June 11) at 5 a.m. in the morning. The section of motorway between the Kaiserberg motorway junction and the Mülheim-Heißen junction in the direction of Essen is affected.
This is the federal motorway A40:
- runs almost exactly in a west-east direction from the Dutch border near Straelen over the left Lower Rhine through the Ruhr area cities of Moers, Duisburg, Mülheim ad Ruhr, Essen, Bochum to Dortmund
- With more than 100,000 cars a day, it is one of the autobahns with the highest traffic volume in Germany
- The route between Essen and Dortmund has the most kilometers of traffic jams in all of Germany
- is 95.4 kilometers long
- the route known today was formed in 1992 from the A430 and parts of the A2
The reason for the closure is construction work by the Autobahn GmbH des Bundes, which is installing a new road surface on the A40. The entrances and exits of the following junctions are also affected by the construction work:

Detours for the affected lanes are signposted. Heavy traffic (trucks and goods transport) coming from the A3 from Cologne or Oberhausen or from the A40 from Venlo to the Rhine-Ruhr port of Mülheim should approach the Duisburg-Hafen junction of the A40.
