You are currently viewing Your guide to the Belgian Championship time trial of Thursday 23 June in Gavere

Last year Ingelmunster was the setting for the World Time Trial Championships and Yves Lampaert raced to a second time trial title in his backyard.

Wout van Aert dropped the Belgian Championship, Lampaert beat top favorite Remco Evenepoel and Victor Campenaerts in his home match. His West-Flemish supporters turned it into a true folk festival.

Lotte Kopecky scored a clean hat trick for the women. After Middelkerke and Koksijde, she also took over Ingelmunster. Julie Van de Velde and Julie De Wilde accompanied her on stage.

The chronometer will be installed this year in Gavere, home of Victor Campenaerts and Thomas De Gendt. The inhabitants of Gavere are the signboard of this BK.

The course in Gavere is not too hilly – except for “the pit of Dikkelvenne” just before the finish – and should be right up the pace of the speed demons.

11.6 kilometers must be bridged between the Molenstraat and the Nijverheidsstraat. The women drive 2 laps (23.2 kilometers), the men go for 3 laps (34.8 kilometers).

The first woman will start at 11:08 AM with an interval of 1 minute. Lotte Kopecky is expected at the start as title defender at 12.33 pm.

The men’s field is split into several waves. The first rider will be launched shortly after 1 pm, Yves Lampaert will be the last rider from 3.33 pm to look for the tricolor.

There is no shortage of intermediate times: for women there are 3 indications (5.8 km, 11.7 km, 17.4 km), for men no less than 5 (5.8 km, 11.7 km, 17.4 km, 23 .1km, 29km).

Wout van Aert will not break off his internship early this year and again passes for the Belgian Championship time trial.

The top favorite is therefore, just like last year, Remco Evenepoel, who won the time trial in the Tour of Switzerland on Sunday.

But Yves Lampaert is also on track. He won the assignment against the clock in the Baloise Belgium Tour on Friday.

Will it be a battle between the blue shirts again or is Victor Campenaerts now throwing a party in his home port?

Campenaerts has trained a bit more on his time trial bike in recent weeks, but a chain problem crippled his chances in the Baloise Belgium Tour.

Other contenders for a beautiful place of honor are Florian Vermeersch, Ilan Van Wilder, Frederik Frison, Cian Uijtdebroeks, Laurens De Plus, Thomas De Gendt and Rune Herregodts.

With the women, Lotte Kopecky meets her stage companions from last year again, but Sara Van de Vel and Shari Bossuyt, among others, are also putting their best foot forward.

We will keep you informed about the title battle on our channels. On One, the broadcast starts at 2 pm. Then we also catch up with our livestream.
