Doha – Wednesday 22/06/2022 22:08

According to the organizers, five months before the start of the World Cup in Qatar (November 21 – December 18), 1.2 of the two million tickets sold have been sold.

In the most recent sales phase, 23.5 million ticket inquiries were received, according to the world association FIFA on Wednesday. The greatest demands were registered from Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Mexico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the USA.

According to FIFA, the next opportunity to purchase tickets will be on a “first come, first served” basis. A start date for this has not yet been given. Qatar is hoping for a total of 1.2 million visitors. That corresponds to almost half the population of the Gulf Emirate.

The main headache is the accommodation of foreign guests. There are fewer than 30,000 hotel rooms available in Qatar. This is to be counteracted with accommodation in villas and apartments as well as on cruise ships.
