Peter Acosta won’t be in the Dutch GPin Assen, after fracturing on Tuesday the femur of his left leg resulting from a fall while training doing motocross in Murcia. His team, Red Bull KTM Ajo, announced the injury in a statement stating that the Spanish rider will undergo surgery this Wednesday in Barcelona.

«Peter Acosta suffered a fall Tuesday morning while training and broke his left femur. Spanish will be operated tomorrow (Wednesday) in Barcelona”, reads the press release released by KTM. Therefore, Pedro will be absent for this weekend’s appointment in Assen, the last one before the summer break.

The injury is a slowdown in the progression of the Shark of Mazarrón. Acosta he breaks at his best moment, he had been performing at a very high level in the last four races. Since the French GP, the best version of the Moto3 champion was seen again. He crashed that day while he was leading the race, but he learned his lesson and bounced back to claim his first victory in the class at Mugello a fortnight later.

That day something changed inside him. Since then his performance has been much higher than at the beginning of the season, he has achieved the best results of the course. It seems that he has already managed to adapt to the category and at the Sachsenring he showed it again. Acosta finished second in the German GP then a great battle with Lowes, thus sealing the KTM double.

Now it’s time to rest and recover during the summer to come back stronger after the break. This Wednesday they will operate on the one from Mazarrón, his time off will depend on the severity of the fracture, so we will have to wait to see what the doctors say to find out if he will be able to arrive on time for the British GP in Silverstone the next August 7th.
