Apple has updated the suite of iWork to version 12.1 just over two months after reaching version 12. Pages, Numbers and Keynote receive interesting new features applicable to both the Mac and the iPad and iPhone. An update that we can now download from the App Store.

Interesting updates for already very capable apps

Being an update .1 the list of changes is moderate, but the truth is that there are several of the most interesting, especially in keynote, which now has an option for animated backgrounds in the presentations. The full list of changes for Keynote is the next:

  • Add subtle movement and visual interest to your presentation with dynamic backgrounds that move continuously as you move from slide to slide.
  • Select from new animated themes with dynamic backgrounds.
  • Whether or not to skip all slides in a collapsed group.

While the new Pages list is this:

  • Use mail merge to quickly create personalized letters, cards, and envelopes for multiple recipients.
  • Select from stylish new templates for event invitations and student certificates.
  • Export your Pages documents as TXT files.

Lastly, the list of what’s new in Numbers, the least of all, boils down to improving performance when inserting rows and columns into large tables. Something understandable, on the other hand, given the important news it received in the last update.

All in all, Apple continues to evolve its suite of office applications that come free with any iPhone, iPad, or Mac. A good alternative to Office. A most interesting suite to produce our documents and that is characterized by the best possible integration with Apple platformsincluding very good tools for collaborative work and from the cloud at icloud.com.
