The crisis of access to water that affects, mainly the states of the country, could be avoided if an administration and management of the resource were exercised effectively, in the long term, considered Benjamín Martínez, a researcher at the Institute of Sciences of the Atmosphere and Climate Change of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

In an interview with Aristegui Noticias, the academic stated that this problem should not only be blamed on climate change, but it is a problem of poor management of the vital resource and the hoarding of private companies that are granted resource concessions for decades.

“It is necessary that the states that are presenting this problem analyze the underlying factors that are generating a crisis in the water supply”, explained Martínez.

The researcher said that if there is the will to do it, many things can be done, regardless of the acronym partisans and the lack of resources that the Federal Government is not granting.

One of the alternatives that can be listed, which it is viable to guarantee the water supply to the communitiesparticularly in the arid zones of the country, is the desalination of the sea.

This technology, he explained, has been implemented in countries like Israel to improve the use of salt water For human consumption.

Although this water purification process requires an intensive use of electrical energy, There are also alternatives to generate clean and renewable energy;

A 60 square kilometer solar plant, installed in desert areas of states such as Sonora, they could supply the renewable energy required for this process and supply water throughout the country.

Techniques and research have improved over timesaid the academic.

Last Monday, VANGUARDIA published that Jordi Bosch, general manager of Aguas de Saltillo, assured that it is vital to be sustainable.

“Either it is sustainable, or it will not be in the future, that is why we wanted to put the title. Either efficient efforts are made by the operating agencies or there will be no future. This crisis that exists in climate change is already here”, said Bosch after participating in the event Forum Actions for Climate Change Coahuila Heading to 2030.

The issue of water has been put at the center of the debate, after the critical conditions in Nuevo Leónwhere a large part of the population has been left without the supply service in recent days, after presenting a plan where supply is only considered for 7 hours a day.
