Deputy Consuelo Veloso sent an official letter to the president of the board of directors of the Metro SA Passenger Transport Company with the aim of providing details on the advertising campaign “With feet on the ground” of the National Society of Agriculture (SNA), the which is broadcast through different broadcast channels of the Santiago Metro.
“In the year 2021, the Santiago Metro transported more than 43 million passengers, its importance is vital for the transport of the capital as well as the impact of its massive advertising and in a process as important as the constituent one, it cannot be that broadcast a campaign built on disinformation and fake news that seeks to influence the population to vote for rejection”, stressed the deputy.
In addition, he stressed that although both options are equally valid, “one cannot seek to frighten audiences based on terror campaigns.”
In the official letter, also signed by deputies Marcela Riquelme, Francisca Bello, Mercedes Bulnes and Clara Sagardia, they request information regarding the start date of the broadcast of the advertising campaign, the frequency of transmissions and the amounts received by Metro de Santiago for its dissemination. Likewise, he consulted the company’s criteria to filter advertising agreements with companies or public entities.
It should be noted that last week the deputy Consuelo Veloso denounced from the National Congress the aforementioned smear and disinformation campaign carried out by the SNA against the draft of the New Constitution through the media, digital platforms and social networks.
