Undoubtedly, one of the protagonists of Wednesday’s session was Sergio Berni. The Minister of Security of the province of Buenos Aires appeared early in the middle of the carrier picket on the Buenos Aires-La Plata Highway to evict the protesters. However, the first official to arrive was Jorge D’Onofrio, head of Buenos Aires Transportation. But what caught Berni’s attention is how he showed up: by helicopter and accompanied by “Bona”, a purebred dog (German shepherd) who followed him at all times.
The provincial official arrived two hours after the start of the picket line, that is, when the situation was already out of control and there was congestion from the Dock Sud toll to the Berazategui toll, inclusive. In any case, his actions were wise and he arrived under the warning to hijack the cargo trucks that were blocking the way. “Make an assembly, you have five minutes to decide; if not, I hijack all the trucks”, launched an angry Berni.
And he added: “People need order, you can’t do what you want when you want.” In this way, the minister crossed one of the demonstrators and ordered him to evict. Otherwise, he assured that he would hijack the trucks that cut off the accesses. “It will take me until tomorrow to get the trucks out, but a protest cannot be resolved with a crime,” added Berni. In this line, he sentenced: “If they are workers, they must respect the right to work of all the Argentines who have been waiting in that queue for an hour.”
To all this, who is “Bona”
In the pass between Luis Novaresio and Luis Majul in La Nación +, the first of the journalists gave details about the dog that accompanied Berni and revealed the reason for that name. However, the man from Rosario remarked: “Berni was putting on a show because obviously it was easier to evict 40 trucks than the social organizations, which is more complicated. And all the cameras were there, but having said all this, the eviction is welcome,” Novaresio said.
Next, the journalist warned about the presence of the shepherdess “Bona”. “Bona is written with a long B, they told me that it is the apocope of La Bonaerense,” said the former A24 and Radio La Red, referring to the police force whose head is the general commissioner Daniel García, another of the protagonists of the day , when referred by Berni: “García, bring the crane”, said the minister on several occasions, by way of threat.
Returning to Berni’s dog, Majul ironically: “Bona is part of the Fuerza Buenos Aires campaign. Berni, who is the king of the show, tells the carrier if he is going to continue doing the show”. In this sense, Novaresio limited: “The note is Commissioner García and Bona. The truckers were good people”, he remarked, considering that although the cut “is not the way”, the claim “is genuine”.
But Rosario insisted with the German shepherd: “I want to meet Bona, it’s the only thing that matters to me this morning,” he joked. “She is my dog, she is with me all day and I take her everywhere,” Berni himself had told the journalists who were present on the Highway. On Radio La Red she was asked about her: “Does she bite?” And the official replied: “There is no dog that does not look like its owner.”
World Take the Dog to Work Day?
Some portals indicate that it is June 24, others that it was the 21st and others that it would be the 22nd. The appearance of Berni with “Bona” coincides, curiously, with the celebration of the “World Day of bringing the Dog to work”. This is an initiative that emerged in the United States in the ’90s, whose objective is to encourage responsible ownership of pets, promote sociability and increase employee performance.
