For Van Hooydonck it will be his very first Tour de France ever. The 26-year-old from Antwerp is very happy: “This is a big step in my career. I think the places in the selection of Jumbo-Visma are the most expensive in the peloton.”

“I think I won Primoz’s confidence in the Vuelta a España last year and I also confirmed in Paris-Nice that I can do it. The team knows what it’s worth to me, so I feel like I can deserved.”

Van Hooydonck will fully comply with the service of his three leaders: “There is a lot of pressure on our shoulders.”

“The first week is always very hectic and dangerous and it’s up to me to make sure we get through there as a team. I will also always take care of the early work in the stage if necessary.”

Tiesj Benoot is also very satisfied with his seat on the Jumbo-Visma Tour bus: “I am very honored to be part of the selection in my first year with the team. The confidence is there.”

“I try not to focus too much on the results, but on the process. We just have to try to do it as well as possible. I hope to play an important role in that.”

Benoot’s versatility ensures that he will have few rest days in this Tour. “In the first week I try to bring the leaders in safely. Afterwards I also want to be an important added value in the mountains.”
