Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that Ukraine’s non-bloc status could be an acceptable solution to the current situation.

“When I spoke on the phone with the President (of Russia Vladimir. — RT) Putin, I said that it would be a very good agreement if Ukraine is a nuclear-free state and does not join any military organizations like NATO and so on, ”he quotes RIA News.

Tokayev noted that the non-bloc status of Ukraine discussed at the talks in Istanbul would be acceptable to Russia and the entire international community.

As Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said earlier, during the Russian-Ukrainian talks, the non-bloc status of Ukraine was discussed.

Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said that the ideal outcome in the current situation in Ukraine should be to achieve a neutral status for the country so that it can become a bridge between Russia and Europe.
