The former world number one in women’s tennis, Serena Williams, made her comeback after 357 days of being forced to take a break due to injury – and promptly won her first appearance.

At the WTA 500 lawn tournament in British Eastbourne, the American won the doubles competition with her Tunisian partner Ons Jabeur after 1:34 hours in three sets with 2: 6, 6: 3, 13:11 against the duo Marie Bouzkova ( CZE)/Sara Sorribes Tormo (ESP) and is in the quarterfinals.

Williams, 23-time Grand Slam winner, will compete in the singles tournament in Wimbledon (June 27 to July 10) next week with the help of a wildcard. In total, she has won the classic seven times in her career, most recently in 2016.

The 40-year-old also played her last match before her unwanted break in London. On June 29, 2021, she had to retire due to a tear in her hamstrings.
