You are currently viewing If you have always dreamed of buying a city bus, now you can do it at a bargain price

You may not be interested in buying a bus, but you are sure curious to see who sells them, and how much they cost.

There are many types of vehicles, and it is relatively easy to test some of them: cars, motorcycles, vans, tractors, even trucks. But very few people can boast of having driven a city bus.

If you have a transport company, or need a bus for any type of activity or recreation, you will be able to buy 30 hybrid buses at a price three times lower than usual. Yes, second-hand, but less than 10 years old.

According to our colleague Noelia López in AutoBild, the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) of Madrid, has put up for auction 30 hybrid urban buses (diesel / electric), that can be purchased by bidding from June 24.

These are not old vehicles, since all of them are less than ten years old, as we have mentioned. The reason for their substitution is that the Madrid EMT has acquired 100 100% electric busesmodernizing its fleet, so it has to get rid of the hybrids.

According to the EMT auction specifications, “They are perfectly suitable for carrying out other activities related to transport. They also have the added value of being hybrids with an ECO class energy classification.“.

Of the 30 used hybrid buses that can be bid on, 17 are from the MAN Lion’s city model and 13 are from the Iveco brand, Urbanway model.

An urban bus for 73,000 euros

A bus costs between 200,000 and 400,000 euros, depending on the number of places and other characteristics.

The EMT auction starts with prices of €73,000, which is a bargain for vehicles of these characteristics with so few years. But unfortunately, if you want one you have to buy them in batches.

According to AutoBild, the EMT has grouped them into five lots made up of six buses each. The minimum price of each lot ranges between 440,000 and 490,000 euros. And someone can go up more, if there are bids.

Applications can be submitted until 2:00 p.m. on June 24, at this link.
