Instead, parents should not eat outdoors and should always keep doors and windows closed. “My parents think it’s really gross.”

Other vacationers also want to have seen the animals in abundance. “There are more and more on Texel,” says a Facebook user. She sees the reason in the lack of natural enemies for the animals. Others debate whether rubbish lying around could be responsible for the proliferation of the pests.


“I saw it for the first time this year. Not nice,” says another vacationer. She also notes that the beasts are very trusting. “Even if we (with a dog) sit outside, they come out. They even mess with jackdaws and magpies.”
