The activities of Viktor Medvedchuk’s party “Opposition Platform – For Life” are banned in Ukraine. Such a decision reported on Facebook of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, adopted by the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal.

All real estate, funds on accounts and other assets of Medvedchuk’s party will be turned over to the state by a court decision.

The Ministry of Justice recalled that the activities of “pro-Russian parties” in Ukraine are prohibited by a decree of President Volodymyr Zelensky dated May 14, 2022.

Representatives of the Opposition Platform – For Life party called the court’s decision to ban “politically motivated persecution”, which is based on “unfounded, unfounded accusations”, writes “Politics of the Country”.

The leader of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk, is known as a pro-Russian politician. The media call “Vladimir Putin’s godfather.”

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies in 2021 filed charges of treason on two counts and attempted “plunder of national resources” for running a mining business in Crimea. Medvedchuk was placed under house arrest, from which he reportedly escaped in the early days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On April 12, Ukrainian authorities announced that Medvedchuk had been detained.

There were suggestions that Medvedchuk could be transferred to the Russian side as part of the exchange, but as of June 20, this has not happened.
