If the sales of conventional passenger cars do not stop falling, electrified vehicles enjoy more and more acceptance in the Spanish market. According to data from the Spanish Association of Car and Truck Manufacturers (Anfac), in May sales of these models reached 2,421 units sold. This figure, 12.6% higher than the same month of the previous year, represents almost 2.5% of the total market share.
So far this year, sales of these vehicles amount to 19,791 units, 36.6% more than in the same period of the previous year. In turn, the accumulated fee for the year is 5.25%.
“Sales of this type of vehicle have increased compared to the previous year, which is good news, but its rate of entry is still slow and below that necessary to reach the milestone of 120,000 electrified passenger cars for this year, which will allow us to meet our the European requirements to reduce emissions”, considers Jose Lopez-TafallCEO of Anfac.
For this May, the trend has been the small urban cars of the B and C segments, although, curiously, the one who has led the sales ranking is an SUV with the dimensions of a sedan. This is how the list with the best-selling electric cars in the month of May is configured:
Citroën C4
Manufactured at the Madrid plant of the Stellantis group in Villaverde (Madrid), the e-C4 is a car with a great personality. It is an all-road type vehicle, with a dynamic and modern appearance. In addition to the gasoline and diesel versions, it is sold in a 100% electric version for a price that starts at 21,225 euros.
fiat 500
The legendary Italian utility vehicle has embarked on an electric adventure, being “one of the best electric models we have had the opportunity to drive”, as we tell you in the Economist. However, it is also offered with a hybrid engine. Thus, its price starts from 17,000 euros.
Mini-Electric
The update of the iconic model has received, for the first time, a 100% electric variant. With identical measurements to those of a 3-door Mini, it has a power of 135 kW (184 hp) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Its battery, for its part, offers up to 234 kilometers of autonomy. All this makes its price start from 33,950 euros.
Vauxhall Corsa
One of the key models of the Figueruelas factory (Aragón), the Corsa is a milestone among general utility vehicles. And in this sixth installment of the model it is offered in a 100% electric variant. With a 50 kWh battery, the range declared by the brand is 330 kilometres. Its price is 31,350 euros and up.
peugeot 208
Model with similar features to the Corsa, but with a much more aggressive design. Its sporty silhouette, as well as the fang-shaped headlights, make it a youthful model. Thus, the e-208 is sold at a price from 33,320 euros.
