The hotel-cooperative Gondolín, located in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Crespo, which has provided accommodation to some 50 transvestites and trans people for 15 years, suffered a fire that almost completely destroyed one of its rooms, while referents of diversity described the fact as a “transodiant attack”.

“Hours after the end of the #3J #VivasyLibresNosQueremos and in the #MesDelOrgullo, the transvestite and trans comrades of the ‘Hotel Gondolin’ suffered an attempt on their lives, an episode of outrageous attack as they have been increasingly implemented lately. #NiUnaMenos” Geraldine wrote.
The woman uploaded a video showing the damage suffered by the walls, the floor, the mattress, the curtains and various pieces of furniture after the fire. The affected room belongs to Zoe, the president of the cooperative, who was not in the place at the time of the event.

The activist also argued that “the hate speech promoted by these sectors is a consequence of these attacks that hide behind ‘free expression,’ and she wondered how long “we are going to continue to put up with all these hateful trans and transvestite speeches.”
“The igneous focus was spotted by a person who was passing by on a bicycle,” police personnel said. The cyclist was driving down Aráoz street and warned that the flames were coming from one of the hotel’s bedrooms. Meanwhile, City Firefighters arrived at the scene to put out the fire.

However, heThe expert reports determined that the fire it started with a cigarette“, they reported.
