adult swim continues to form alliances with some of the most renowned artists in the Japanese animation industry. The Warner Bros. Discovery programming block ad which has given the green light to two new series: an anime spin off from Rick and Morty and an original project by the director of jujutsu kaisen.
Rick and Morty: The Anime It is described as an independent work that will be inspired by the themes and events of the main series. The production of 10 episodes will be in charge of the director Takashi Sano (Tower of God), responsible for the short films Rick and Morty vs. Genocide Y Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil). The series will be produced by Telecom Animation Film (Tower of God; Shenmue the Animation).
“Rick and the gang’s multiverse exploits pose challenges to their family bond, but they always rise to the occasion,” Sano stated. “I am honored to have been given the opportunity to tell a new story about this amazing family. I hope you enjoy your adventures!”

For its part, Ninja Kamui will be an action-adventure anime with futuristic touches that will be developed by Sunghoo Park, director of God of High Schoolthe first season of jujutsu kaisen and the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The character designs will be made by the legendary mangaka Takashi Okazaki (afro samurai). Production is handled by E&H and Sola Entertainment (Blade Runner: Black Lotus).
The story will introduce us to Joe Higan, a ninja who escaped from his clan and his violent past to rural America. One night, he is ambushed by a team of assassins from his old organization who demand bloody retribution for betraying his code. After being left for dead, Joe will resurface as his old self, “Ninja Kamui”, with the aim of avenging his family and friends. Set in the 21st century, the series will pit Joe’s traditional skills against the high-tech weaponry of the new age.
“This is a story I’ve always wanted to tell,” Park said. “The transgression and punishment of a ninja who loses everything and goes out for revenge, and what lies at the end of his path. I am very excited about this new project and I hope the fans are too.”

Although a premiere window for these productions was not revealed, it was confirmed that both series will premiere through the Adult Swin block in the United States and on HBO Max.
