Four youths who had been convicted in Cuba for participating in the July 11, 2021 protests were independently released from prison. The information was confirmed by members of the opposition this Saturday, 14. Marcos Alfonso Breto, 19, Yensy Machado González, 18, Frank Daniel Roy, 19, Emiyoslan Roman Rodríguez, 18, left prison after a defense request that the sentences were overturned. One of them remains under house arrest and the others do volunteer work, according to activist Martha Beatriz Roque, from the NGO Cubalex. On the 11th and 12th of July last year, the biggest manifestations against the Cuban government in 60 years, when thousands took to the streets in dozens of towns and cities on the island. The protests left one dead, dozens injured and 1,395 detainees, of which 728 are still in prison, according to the latest Cubalex survey.
