The rise in prices in the world can be explained by the sanctions imposed by the West, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in response to statements by German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock about Russia’s alleged responsibility for the food crisis.
She recalled Burbock’s statement, in which the head of the German Foreign Ministry said that “due to Russia’s actions in Ukraine,” deliveries are stopped and prices are rising sharply around the world, which threatens to starve.
“Prices are rising due to sanctions imposed by the collective West, under pressure from the United States … Failure to understand this is a sign of either stupidity or deliberate misleading of the public,” Zakharova wrote in her Telegram.
The diplomat noted that the collapse of Ukraine’s statehood was “also the work of the collective West”, which involved “including Ms. Burbock’s predecessors”, who “modeled Ukraine’s domestic and foreign policy in manual mode.”
Earlier, the summit participants announced their readiness to continue efforts to politically and economically isolate Russia by imposing new sanctions.
Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the UN Dai Bin noted that the restrictions will not bring peace to Ukraine, but will only provoke a global crisis in the food, energy and financial sectors.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that the consequences of the West’s hybrid war against Russia will be felt by all countries.
