Plaza Güemes (19 and 38) yesterday became the scene of a tragic episode. Averaging 9:30 in the morning, the usual landscape of said green space was abruptly modified by a strong police deployment that was carried out as a result of the discovery of a lifeless person.
According to police sources, the male victim was found lying on the grass with a wound to the temple that was later found to have been caused by a gunshot.
After the doctors verified the death, the scientific police began their work on the scene with the aim of finding any element that could clarify how the death had been triggered.
Although in principle the possibility of an armed attack in the context of a robbery was considered, the discovery of belongings such as the wallet and a cell phone in his pockets ruled out this hypothesis.
When the case began to go through a spiral of conjecture and mystery, the young man’s mother appeared on the scene. With a deep pain for the overwhelming news, the woman provided decisive data for the investigation.
He said that his 26-year-old son “was depressed, medicated by taking antidepressants (Venlafaxine, mood stabilizer, Clonazepam) and that he himself repeatedly referred to intentions of taking his own life and it was his will to get a firearm.”
That is why the prosecutor Condomí Alcorta, in charge of the UFI on duty, is behind the hypothesis of a suicide, although he does not rule out other causes of death and will continue to investigate.
