More and more details are coming out in the case against the footballer. In March, De Telegraaf reported that Promes, together with family, had invested money in a batch of cocaine. This would specifically concern the more than four thousand kilos of hard drugs that were intercepted by the Belgian police in Antwerp in April 2020. That is why the footballer was bugged by the police. The wiretapping brought the police to Promes’s confession that in July 2020 he stabbed his cousin in the knee at a family party in Abcoude.
According to Nieuwsuur, “the evidence for the new suspicions does not only come from Promes’ mobile phone, but also from encrypted messages that the police have intercepted.”
Nieuwsuur writes “that sources around the investigation confirm that Promes is in the picture because of involvement in drug trafficking to Australia.”
Until now, Promes has always denied the stabbing, but the transcript of the tapped conversations shows that Promes wanted to stab his cousin to death.
