NRW election: An unknown becomes the most powerful woman in the state – libertine and Kuschaty only petitioners
No matter how they NRW election goes out exactly on Sunday: Whether Hendrik Wust Prime Minister stays or Thomas Kuchaty moves into the state chancellery, ultimately a powerful woman decides. The paradox is that so far many people in NRW do not even know their names.
But after the election Sunday, she will be the most powerful politician in all of NRW – and she and her party will decide how things will continue.
NRW election 2002: Mona Neubaur becomes the most powerful woman after the election
Black-green, Jamaica, traffic lights – or if mathematically possible red-green? In the end, Wüst and Kuschaty will be petitioners and will have to court their favor: Mona Neubaur. The Greens and their party are expected to get between 15 and 17 percent. At least that’s the trend in recent surveys.
That means: Nothing works without the Greens, except for a grand coalition of CDU and SPD, which is extremely unlikely.
Black-green, red-green, traffic lights or Jamaica: After the NRW state elections, it’s up to the Greens
In the end, the Greens around Mona Neubaur will have to decide whether they want to get involved in a black-green alliance with Wüst. Or whether they can push through more in a possible traffic light coalition with the FDP.

Most of the political intersections would be with the Social Democrats, but it is still uncertain whether Red-Green can also achieve a majority in the country. It would be the most comfortable option for the Greens, for everyone else, Neubaur would be the focus of coalition negotiations as the one that tips the scales.
