South Ossetian presidential candidate and leader of the Nykhas party Alan Gagloev, after processing 100 percent of the protocols, received 56.09 percent of the vote and won the election. Such data follows from the protocol of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the republic following the results of the second round of voting in the presidential elections. According to the document, 16,134 citizens of the republic voted for Gagloev. The current leader Anatoly Bibilov was supported by 11,767 people, which amounted to 40.9 percent of voters.

867 citizens of South Ossetia or 3.01 percent of voters voted against all candidates. According to the CEC, a total of 29,423 people took part in the second round of the presidential elections, with a turnout of 73.93 percent.

On May 8, it became known that Bibilov admitted defeat in the second round of the presidential election. According to the CEC of the country, after processing 18 percent of the protocols, Gagloev was in the lead.
