Gelsenkirchen: Woman is hit by a truck and dragged along

The collision happened in the middle of Buer, on De la Chevallerie Street. On Friday around 2:30 p.m., the 59-year-old victim crossed the green pedestrian traffic light on Springestrasse. What she didn’t realize was who caused the accident.

This is the city of Gelsenkirchen:

  • District Buer 1003 first mentioned
  • around 260,000 inhabitants, five districts and 18 districts, eleventh largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia
  • Hometown of Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04
  • Landmarks among others: Zoom Erlebniswelt, Science Park Rheinelbe, Sport-Paradies
  • Mayor is Karin Welge (SPD)

The 37-year-old woman, who was driving her small truck on the street in Buer, also overlooked the pedestrian. The traffic was red at the traffic light – but although the driver braked, her truck kept rolling. She caught the pedestrian and, according to the Gelsenkirchen police, dragged her along the street for a while.
