Gelsenkirchen: Clinic employees with gloomy concerns – “Fear is going on in this house”
Gelsenkirchen. In Gelsenkirchen the clinic staff goes on the barricades! Fear spreads in a psychiatric ward.
Not an easy situation for employees and patients in the psychiatry of the Evangelical Clinics in Gelsenkirchen. The supposedly uncovered grievances were preceded by an anonymous letter to the “WAZ”.
Gelsenkirchen: Clinic employees live with fear
“What is described in this fire letter is at best the tip of the iceberg. Doctors, psychologists, employees are harassed and punished for flimsy reasons. It’s completely understandable that fear is rampant in this House. No one can be sure of their job here anymore. But the worst thing is that numerous seriously ill patients are now undersupplied” – this was the reaction of several employees of the Evangelische Kliniken (EVK) in Gelsenkirchen when asked by the “WAZ”.
Serious allegations were made against the chief physician of the Clinic for Mental Health and Preventive Medicine, Peer Abilgaard, and the managing director of the hospital, Olaf Walter.
Gelsenkirchen: Two senior physicians were dismissed
In addition, two senior physicians at EVK Psychiatry were terminated without notice last week. The reason: They are said to have administered dangerous drug combinations to patients, among other things.
But the doctors’ lawyer doesn’t see it that way: He speaks of a long-lasting “campaign” against the two. This would now find its culmination in the termination. And other employees of the clinic see the allegations as “exaggerated and untenable”.
This is the city Gelsenkirchen:
- District Buer 1003 first mentioned
- Around 260,000 inhabitants, five districts and 18 districts, eleventh largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia
- Hometown of Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04
- Landmarks among others: Zoom Erlebniswelt, Science Park Rheinelbe, Sport-Paradies
- Mayor is Karin Welge (SPD)
Gelsenkirchen: Doubts about the chief physician of psychiatry
They even doubt Chief Physician Abilgaard’s medical expertise. Although he has a professor’s title, “he is only a professor for musicians’ medicine at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne, but has never published anything in a renowned medical journal. That the hospital advertises with the ‘Professor’ is simply shameful.”
Due to the termination of the two doctors, severely and chronically mentally ill people should now also be “acutely undersupplied”.
