THE Borussia Dortmund said goodbye this Saturday, 14th, to his top scorer who is leaving the team and going to the Manchester City. Before the game against Hertha Berlin, the aurinegro paid tribute to Erling Haaland who reciprocated by scoring a goal and helping in the 2-1 victory. The player received a board with the words “Thank you, Erling!” and a bouquet of daisies. The 21-year-old arrived at Borussia midway through the 2019/20 season and has only needed two years to leave his name in the club’s history. He scored 86 times in 89 matches and was champion of the 2020/21 German Cup, and German runner-up twice, in the 2019/20 season and the current one. It wasn’t just the Norwegian who was honored. Other athletes who are leaving the club were also remembered, such as Belgian defensive midfielder Axel Witsel, Swiss goalkeeper Roman Bürki, French defender Dan-Axel Zagadou, left-back Marcel Schmelzer and sporting director Michael Zorc.
