Estonian Defense Ministry: Baltic countries submitted proposals to NATO to strengthen the forces of the alliance
Deputy Minister of Defense of Estonia Tuuli Duneton said that the Baltic countries have submitted proposals to NATO to strengthen the forces of the alliance in their territories. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to ERR.
According to her, Tallinn wants a clear command structure at the level of military units to appear in each of the Baltic countries and in the entire eastern wing of the North Atlantic Alliance.
“And besides, we want those allied countries that are already in Estonia to further increase the volume of military forces provided by the alliance in Estonia. And another aspect was also the deployment of additional NATO defensive forces on the territory of the Baltic countries, ”Duneton emphasized.
The Deputy Defense Minister added that specific NATO proposals could not be made public at this time. The Office believes that the requests of the country are taken into account to one degree or another, but not to the initial extent.
Earlier, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said that the country is counting on strengthening the eastern wing of NATO. Kallas called it necessary to strengthen the eastern wing of the North Atlantic Alliance, which includes the Baltic countries, and expressed the hope that the relevant decisions would be made at the end of June at the NATO summit in Madrid.
