Roberto Baradel was re-elected this Wednesday as general secretary of the Unified Union of Education Workers (Suteba) of the province of Buenos Aires. In this way, he will be at the head of the union until 2025. This is the third time in a row that Baradel has triumphed in the Suteba union elections.

According to the data from the provisional vote, the “Celeste-Violeta” list headed by Baradel obtained the 81.3% of the votes and it prevailed over the “Multicolor” list referenced in Romina del Pla (13.7%) and the “Blue and White” list led by Marta Gómez (4.3%).

From twitter accountBaradel thanked the “massive participation” of the Buenos Aires teachers in the union election and celebrated that Suteba triumphed in the La Matanza, Ensenada, Escobar, Quilmes and General Madariaga sections, after having lost the previous elections in the hands of the list ” Multicolored”.

“This is recognition for have defended the Public School and the rights of education workers, despite the attacks by the governments of (Mauricio) Macri and (María Eugenia) Vidal”, assured the union leader once the voting day was over and with the first data confirming his triumph.

Similarly, Baradel pointed out that the broad support obtained from the members of the teachers’ union represents the appreciation of the policies that the union carried out during the pandemic and the support offered to all teachers.

As reported from Suteba, the “Celeste-Violeta” list was imposed in 97% of the 133 districts in which the union has a presencewhile the “Multicolor” list obtained 2.25% and the “Blue and White” list 0.75%.

The wage parity for Buenos Aires teachers will reach 60.4% in December 2022, as announced by the Governor Axel Kicillof this Tuesday. In addition, the review and monitoring clause remains in force in order to reopen the discussion in the event of an inflationary spike.
