The big semi-final of “Let’s Dance” took place on Friday. The three final dance couples have been determined.

On Friday evening, Amira Pocher (29), Janin Ullmann (40), René Casselly (25) and Mathias Mester (35) fought for “Let’s Dance” (also on RTL +) to get into the grand finale. The last four remaining celebrities each had to complete two new dances and an improvised performance in the “Impro Dance Even More Extreme” competition. Who couldn’t convince the jury and the audience so shortly before the title “Dancing Star 2022”?

René Casselly wins the first round

With a stylish quick step all in pink, Amira Pocher (29) and Massimo Sinató (41) performed the first dance of the evening on Friday. “It was rhythmic,” praised juror Joachim Llambi (57). For him, however, it was “not enough” in the semifinals. The jury awarded 23 points. Janin Ullmann and Zsolt Sándor Cseke (34) have already scored the full 30 points six times. Did you do that with a Paso Double on Friday? “You offered everything,” enthused Jorge González (54). In the end, however, the moderator only got 26 points.

Next, Mathias Mester and Renata Lusin (34) danced a soulful contemporary – “a big hurdle” for the athlete. His expressive dance was about an old love that betrayed him at the time. “In the end I just thought: ‘Wow Mathias’,” said the impressed Motsi Mabuse (41). There were 24 points for her performance. For René Casselly and Kathrin Menzinger (33), the next step was to make faces and twist their feet. Her Charleston was more than well received by the jury and the audience. After standing ovations, her performance was rated with 28 points and a great deal of praise from Mabuse: “For me, the best show today – so far.”

Janin Ullmann breaks 30-point record in round two

Pocher and Sinató kicked off round two with a tango. “I love this dance,” enthused the wife of comedian Oliver Pocher (44) in advance. But did the jury fall in love with the performance of the two? Mabuse and González were 99 percent convinced, Llambi 97 percent. In the end, that meant 28 points for the dancing couple. A romantic expression and a lot of body tension were required for the rumba by Ullmann and Cseke – both were apparently fulfilled. For the first time in the evening, the jury also stood up behind the podium. “That touched me very much,” said Mabuse. For the seventh time, the two scored 30 points – breaking the 30-point record of Ella Endlich (37) from the twelfth season.

Mester and Lusin created a good mood in the studio this time with their quick step. “Encore, encore, encore,” Mabuse demanded, praising the technical part of the dance as well as the entertainment. The enthusiasm was reflected in the number of points: the jury awarded 29 points. Casselly then danced an emotional contemporary for his late grandfather. “I believed everything you danced. Your grandpa would be proud,” González enthused. For Llambi, however, “that last percent heart” was still missing. The end of the song: 29 points.

“Impro Dance Even More Extreme” and the big decision

In the following competition “Impro Dance Even More Extreme” the celebrities had to give everything again. Each couple was randomly assigned any dance they could prepare for in just a few minutes – including a change of outfit. Then a minute of performance followed for each.

Pocher received 22 points for her improvised Slowfox, Ullmann 24 points for her Slow Waltz. A jury rating of 19 points was awarded to Mester’s spontaneous jive, and 27 points to Casselly’s salsa – the best improv dance.

Then the big showdown began. Casselly and Ullmann were happy about the direct entry into the grand final. Mester joined them as the third finalist. In the end it wasn’t enough for Pocher.
