Germany’s complete refusal of Russian gas, which German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock declares, is impossible and inappropriate, perhaps the minister’s “emotions have prevailed over reason,” said Steffen Kotre, a member of the Bundestag committee on climate protection and energy.
He expressed this opinion in an interview with Then24.
“This is impossible and inappropriate. It seems that the head of the Foreign Ministry’s emotions took precedence over reason. Germany will continue to depend on such cost-effective and environmentally friendly energy carriers as Russian ones,” Kotret said, commenting on Burbock’s statements.
On May 10, the head of the German Foreign Ministry, during a press conference in Kyiv, said that Germany was reducing its dependence on Russian energy carriers “to zero”. According to her, “this is forever.”
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed the opinion that an embargo on gas from Russia would have serious consequences for Germany and Europe.
