Another neighborhood in La Plata mobilized because they are "fed up" of insecurity

The residents of Los Hornos are tired of living in fear and that is why they mobilize so that the authorities listen to them and take action on the matter. One of the latest measures adopted by a group of inhabitants of the populous La Plata neighborhood is the call to participate in a march and picket that will take place today.

The appointment, which was broadcast on social networks, is at 66 and 143, where they make a cut. “Cut off at 66th and 143rd avenues asking for #SECURITY, 18 hours. WE HAVE A LOT TO CLAIM. You can’t continue living like this. Enough HORNENSES. Friday the 13th, 66th and 143rd avenues,” the call described.

“This week there were between two or three robberies per day. They get into the patio and steal chairs, clothes, and try to get into houses,” said one of the organizers, who clarified that the call does not have a political flag, but that these are neighbors who are tired of insecurity. “There came a time when we said enough is enough and the way we have to make it visible is to go out on the street. We hope that some authority will appear. In Los Hornos we live worse than ever, nothing has changed in terms of security. The promises of officials remain only promises There are no patrols, no motorcycles or anything,” he complained.

He also said that “you leave the 137 and you don’t see a single policeman”, while warning that “there must be about 10 policemen on the streets of Los Hornos”.

It should be remembered that last Saturday they met with Buenos Aires officials and members of the Police at the Capital Chica Club, on 156 and 157. That is why, faced with unstoppable events, they return to the streets to show their concern.

In this context, as reported by this newspaper, in the last few hours it was known that stone attacks on drivers reappeared in that area. This time they were recorded on 137th avenue and, according to complaints received by this newspaper, the sequence in question occurred in one of the main arteries that connect the Urban Area and the southern area of Greater La Plata. In particular, it is through there that you reach Arana and the zone of villas in La Armonía.

The driver of a Ford Ranger pickup reported that “meters before reaching the traffic light on 80th Street, in an area near a settlement, I was surprised at the amount of stones and rubble-type debris that were spilled on the asphalt. At first I thought that, since it is an area where cargo vehicles from the corralones circulate, they could have gotten rid of it.”

Before reaching the corner where you have to stop for the red light, the driver felt an impact that stunned him: “It was the explosion in the windshield,” he recalled about the impact and the stupor it caused him. Before the painting, he did not remain paralyzed: “Fearing a possible robbery if I braked, I grabbed the wheel and accelerated,” he said about the end of the afternoon, still under the shock of the experience. “Because of the number of stones I saw, I think I was not the only one affected. I don’t know if they do it to stop you and rob you, or just to hurt you, “added the neighbor who usually moves in his vehicle on 137th Street.

In this way, these events are added to robberies and attacks that the residents of Los Hornos denounce daily. That is why they decided to mobilize for a long time to try to have answers to the problems.
